We will also share messages of solidarity from other struggles beyond Sudan’s borders. Most of all, we will be together and get strength from one another.
Let us stand together against militarism, violence and oppression in remembrance of the past and solidarity with the present!

Open Letter from Sudan
Uprising to the German Foreign Office:
People cannot escape the war in Sudan because their passports are trapped in the German Embassy.
Dear employees of the German Foreign Office
We, members of the Sudanese Diaspora in Germany, and people with friends and family in Sudan, appeal to you with the urgent request that you release the passports of Sudanese citizens, which were inside the German embassy in Khartoum at the outbreak of war, and that you return them to their owners.
On 15th April, 2023, war broke out in Sudan. In Khartoum and other cities military and militia are fighting against each other, at the expense of the civil population. They are destroying the country with firearms and air fire, and buildings are burning as a result of explosives. Already over 500 people have been killed.
The war has caused 330,000 people to flee, and over 100,000 have already crossed the border into other countries. People whose passports were in the German embassy on 15th April for processing and visa issue have been unable to cross the border. The situation in Sudan is very critical. There are no administrative structures and prices are rising drastically, making it impossible for people to apply for new passports.
This puts them in a difficult situation and forces them to stay trapped by the war. Even in places where there is currently no fighting, the humanitarian situation is getting worse. This means that people without passports are being left behind.
In your press release on 3rd Mai 2023, you accepted that “a three-digit number of passports” is affected. Despite personal inquiries, the number of people who are directly affected has not been released. It is incomprehensible how – in the globally networked and digitalised world of the 21st Century – passports cannot be quickly returned, at the very least in digital format.
We request you to perform the following actions immediately:
Yours sincerely

- Immediate return of all Sudanese passports to their owners
- Enable people to flee from Sudan
- Evacuate all Sudanese citizens with German passports or visas to Germany.
- Publish the exact number of affected people and transparently explain how these cases will proceed.
- Facilitate family reunions immediately, not just for Sudanese people in Germany, but also for people from other countries who have family members in Sudan and are living here, for example, people from Syria, Eritrea, Ethiopia or Yemen.

STOP the war in SUDAN:
Urgent Call to the European Union, European civil society and policy-makers:
We, the undersigned, members of the Sudanese diaspora in Europe, call on the European Union, European policymakers and European civil society to take concrete and urgent action to ensure an immediate end to the deadly conflict in Sudan that began on the morning of April the 15th 2023. Every minute political leaders and civil society wait without decisive action, drives Sudan further into the abyss. The consequences, not only for Sudan but for the entire region, are unimaginable.
So far, at least 415 people have been reported killed and 3551 reported injured in this conflict. As the fighting is taking place in the middle of densely populated residential areas, the extent of the damage is devastating. Homes, schools, roads, and medical facilities have been shelled. While medical staff and other aid workers have heroically tried to meet the most urgent needs, they, like the patients, find themselves in an impossible and untenable situation. Medical facilities have either run out of supplies or are facing critical shortages, forcing many to close their doors. Power stations and other vital facilities have also been damaged, and people working there have been unable to reach them safely. As a result, much of the population has been affected by interruptions or complete loss of electricity, internet and of most concern, water supplies.
The conflict results from a struggle for power and wealth between two entities, the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Janjaweed Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militias. Both are accused of committing war crimes and killing protesters. Regional and international powers back them - many of which are allies of or do business with the EU - in order to advance their economic and geostrategic interests at the expense of the Sudanese people and their revolution. The conflict is also a counter-revolutionary attempt by the various “shadow battalions” and elements of former dictator Omar Al-Bashir's security apparatus, in a bid to return to power and extinguish the democratic flame that burns brightly in Sudan.
We call on the EU, European legislators and policy-makers, non-profit organisations and civil society to act immediately! Specifically,
Work tirelessly to end the fighting in Sudan, enforce the Geneva Conventions and create humanitarian corridors and safe routes without delay.
Close all loopholes to support the warring parties.
Call on countries and organisations which support the warring parties to stop all material, military and financial support, and any interference or intervention.
Create logistical opportunities to deliver urgently needed aid, especially trauma kits, life-saving medicines and emergency food, and remove bureaucratic obstacles to this aid as much as possible.
Reaffirm loudly and unequivocally a commitment to the Sudanese demand for a full transfer of power to civilians.
We, the undersigned, repeat the slogan that the Sudanese have taken to the streets: "The revolution is a people's revolution, and power is the power of the people; the military returns to the barracks, and the Janjaweed to be disbanded!"

Responses from Sudan on the coup of Oct. 25
The Coordination of Greater Omdurman's Resistance Committees has announced their spokespersons:
Khartoum State Resistance Committees Coordination, 8 Nov 2021
The Coordination of Resistance Committees in Greater Omdurman, 4 Nov 2021
The Khartoum State resistance committees received an invitation today (November 4th, 2021) through the office of the (detained) Prime Minister Dr. Abdalla Hamdok outlining a meeting proposal during which the PM wishes to inform the resistance committees of Khartoum State on the current situation.
We, the coordination of resistance committees in Greater Omdurman, have decided not to accept the invitation and to clarify the following:
1. if any party wishes to enlighten the resistance committees about the current situation or any political action, it must do so while addressing the public in an open and transparent manner; this is our firm position.
2. Dr Abdalla Hamdok is currently detained by the coup authorities, and a detainee cannot call for a meeting at their place of detainment. If the PM truly wants to meet with us, we will arrange for him to do so in public squares and on the streets, where he can address the people directly. We are just a voice for the Sudanese people, and we reject these closed door policies.
3. We have not and will not be part of any group that calls for any form of political settlement with the military coup leaders.
4. Our permanent position is unequivocal: no negotiations, no compromise, and no power over that of the people.
5. We, in the coordination of resistance committees in Greater Omdurman, are working on innovating and developing new tactics to apply in addition to our existing methods of nonviolent resistance. The work to topple the coup powers and build a Sudan of freedom, peace, and justice continues.
The people are stronger, and there is no going back.

The Sudanese Workers Alliance for the Restoration of Trade Unions, 25 Oct 2021
There is no alternative but to continue the struggle, bring the downfall of the coup, mobilize our masses and achieve the complete demands and aspirations of the December revolution.
“The coup of parasitic capitalism was instigated by the warlord, Hemeti, and Burhan, the Al-Bashir Security apparatus, and the rest of the warlords who traffic in the suffering of their people, and the political brokers who come in every colour and shape.”
We ask the working class worldwide to stand in solidarity with the people of Sudan.
Today, October 25, 2021, the great Sudanese people are waging their bright, hard and blood-stained struggle against a military coup. There is no alternative but to overthrow and uproot all the forces that oppose democratic transformation, and who serving the interests of parasitic capitalism and its international and regional masters, must be held accountable for all their crimes, for their corruption, and their deep-rooted hostility to our people’s yearning for freedom, justice and peace.
We, the Sudanese Workers Alliance for the Restoration of Trade Unions call upon our members, female and male workers, craftswomen/men, wage workers, producers and toilers in the countryside and cities to engage in a protracted struggle against this very evident, undeniable coup, we call upon them to engage in civil disobedience and a general strike until the downfall of the counterrevolution. We must do so with the vigilance and caution that is necessary to resist all bargains or deals that run contrary to the demands of the revolution.
We must unreservedly avoid compromises, like the agreement signed on August 17, 2019, which forced the December 2018 revolution into an impasse, and prevented all of its glorious goals from coming into fruition. We urge the people to build an independent democratic union bloc that derives its legitimacy from work and which will be committed to the adherence of its own espoused principles. We are also making it clear that the Sudanese Workers Alliance for the Restoration of Trade Unions is fully committed to doing its utmost best to coordinate, network and deliver all required information that needs to be disseminated for this democratic bloc on our social media pages.
The power of the coup is the power of parasitic capitalism. It is inherently hostile to the common interests of male and female workers and all of the classes of wage earners; it is necessarily hostile to our people and their right to a dignified life. Parasitic capitalism contradicts the just demand of the Sudanese people for sovereignty over our country’s wealth and resources. There is no alternative but the protracted struggle for the downfall of the coup, the liquidation of its compromised institutions and agencies and the repealing of all of its regional and international alliances.
Our message to the honourable non-commissioned officers, the rank-and-file of the armed forces, the officers in the armed forces, the police, and the armed movements, is that they abide by their duty to protect their people and align themselves with the cause of the democratic transition. They should not point their guns at the bare chests of the daughters and sons of Sudan, who stand proud with determination and the yearning for freedom, justice and peace.
We must be clear. This disastrous coup will only serve the same social classes, and the regional and international interests that the Bashir regime always sought to protect, and who in turn stayed quite in the face of their corruption, actions and crimes throughout dictatorial rule.
We will succeed.
Our people are stronger than murderers and saboteurs, we have accumulated legacies of resistance responsible for bringing down many dictatorships who thought they had succeeded in breaking the Sudanese people’s resolve. The victory of our revolution is certain, regardless of the brutality of the counter-revolutionaries and the thirst for blood among vampiric putschists.
Glory to the people of Sudan and to the martyrs of the Sudanese revolution of all eras. Long live the struggle of the Sudanese Working class, of all Sudanese workers.
Glory to the bloc of the hungry.
